Jean from my iPhone
Release z.11: Web Access that works on a phone — keyboard, notch, tap targets, dialogs — and Markdown that opens as a readable page.
Before 1.0, Splitkick shipped as JeanZ, a fork of Jean. This post is about JeanZ z.11.
An agent asks a question while you are away from the Mac. If you cannot answer it from your phone, it waits until you are back.
What “works on a phone” meant
Upstream Jean had Web Access: the full app in a browser, token login. On an iPhone it was technically there and practically unusable. z.11 was the first mobile pass:
- The composer stays above the keyboard.
- Notch and home-indicator safe areas.
- Tap targets you can hit with a thumb; dialogs that fit the screen.
- Markdown and text files open as a readable page in the pane, not as source.
Also fixed in z.11
Claude’s questions to you (AskUserQuestion) and plan approval work again — the phone is useless if you cannot answer.
Setup
Tailscale on both devices, turn on Web Access, open the link in Safari, add to the home screen. Nothing passes through a Splitkick server; the phone talks to the Mac. Full steps: Use it from your phone.
Later releases continued this line: z.16 put “where you left off” first on the phone’s Home and removed the title bar on phones, and z.24 added pinch-zoom in the image viewer.
